A shrub indigenous to Asia, Eleuthero also goes by the name, “Siberian Ginseng”, even though it bears no direct botanical relation to either Chinese or American Ginseng. It was Russian scientists who initiated a long and exhaustive program of research into this remarkable herb back in the 1950s. As a result, after years of investigation, they coined the wonderfully expressive term “adaptogen” to describe it.
